This new and fifth album is now the successor to the multi-platinum award-winning Sex ‘n’Jazz (2007) with hits like Marvin & Miles Beautiful Day and the broad breakthrough for the band meant. Sex ‘n Jazz is currently 85 weeks, the longest listed album in the Dutch Album Top 100. Love For Lunch offers 12 new originals written by Barend Fransen and Ferdi Lancée, founders and driving forces behind Gare du Nord. It took the duo a unique operation of the old Summertime, which is fully compatible with the typical upbeat jazz sound of La Gare . “We wanted to compose a track that would sound like the soundtrack for a James Bond-movie. I am a 007 fan and A View To A Kill in 1985 with Grace as May Day is one of my favorites. Many of our songs have been used for films and documentaries, which link the sound and vision in the art. When Dorona Alberti, our singer, Grace in the demo singing, they found the perfect sound track for it. So we decided to incorporate the song itself, it is the opener of Love For Lunch and move directly cinematic atmosphere that characterizes the album down, “says lyricist Barend Fransen. The origin of Italian singer Dorona Alberti also plays a leading role in the song Dish Of The Day, inspired by the life and work of artist Keith Haring. Dish Of The Day is composed around Ferdi Lancée’s bluesrif the score of the duo for the most recent TV commercial brewer Grolsch characterized. “We had so much demand for that music for Grolsch, we decided that a new song to build around,” said Lancée.
